Sambal (Chili) Prawns Recipe

Ingredients:

300 g prawns of medium size

50 g dried prawns (pounded finely)

10 dried red chilies (pounded finely)

10 small onions (pounded finely)

5 pips garlic (pounded finely)

1/4 piece prawn paste (belacan)

2 limes

2 pieces dry tamarind

1 tbsp tamarind and 1/2 cup of water to make tamarind juice

2 tsp sugar

salt to taste

cooking oil

Method:

Clean the prawns. Do not remove shells. Heat 2 tbsp of cooking oil in a wok, fry pounded ingredients until brown and fragrant. Add in prawns, dry tamarind, tamarind juice, lime juice and sugar. Allow to cook in low fire for 10 - 15 minutes. Add salt to taste. Serve with rice (optional).
