A Culinary Cut Above: Fast Cooking Tips

Food can be described in a wide variety of ways. By using the following tips, you can learn to make delicious meals effortlessly.

When you are baking pastry crusts, try increasing the cooking time a bit. Let the crust go beyond light tan to a deeper, golden shade. When you see the golden color it indicates carmelization, which lends a crisp, sweet flavor to the pie crust.

When cooking with oil, add it not to the bottom but to the pan’s sides. This will allow the oil to heat up as it works its way down to the center. This will give more flavor to what you are cooking.

When seasoning meats, try a little piece before cooking the entire thing. Items such as burgers, meatballs and other meat dishes need deliberate, specific seasoning. It’s best then to not cook all of it immediately, only to find out that the seasoning is off. Instead, make a small patty out of a little piece and cook that first. After you have tested this piece, you can adjust the level of seasoning as necessary or cook the rest as is.

Don’t overcook your vegetables. They will lose a lot of food value and won’t taste good. Opt for quicker cooking methods instead. You can steam or saute your vegetables or eat them raw.

You can make a lot of preparations when you are cooking to make it easy and fast. Peruse your recipes and look for things you can do ahead of time. Choose items that will not spoil. Much of the preparation can be done the day before it is needed. More complex recipes become quicker and more fun this way.

They will act somewhat like a sponge that soaks up all the water. Get a soft, clean and wet cloth to wipe the dirt off each individual mushroom for better results.

A great source of protein for your diet can be found in beans and tofu. Both beans and tofu are readily available in most grocery stores. Try pan-frying tofu with some interesting seasonings and you will have a tasty alternative to meat. Soak and cook the beans with herbs, seasonings, and bits of meat for a flavorful soup, burrito filling, dip or other protein-rich application.

Try drying your own tomatoes. To be able to dry them yourself, cut the tomatoes half an inch thick, or you should cut Romas lengthwise in half. Place on a cooling rack, cut-side up and lightly salt them. Then place that on a baking sheet and dry them in an oven that is 190 degrees for 10 hours. Put the bags of tomatoes in your freezer. Also, you can put those dried tomatoes straight into a jar or can filled with fresh herbs and olive oil. The tomatoes will need to be refrigerated and should be consumed within a couple of weeks.

The awesome power of good food should not be underestimated. Show those you love your new found skills by applying these tips to your next meal.
