Test a small sample of your seasoned meats prior to cooking the full dish. You have to use caution when seasoning certain meats, such as meatballs, meatloaf and hamburgers. Do not cook it all after seasoning. Cook a small portion first to sample. You can then either leave as-is, or adjust your seasonings according to your tastes.

When preparing to barbecue, make sure you light the charcoal in your grill ahead of time. Allot at least 30 minutes for the process, prior to placing food on the grill, to get your fire started and coals ready. Your coals should all have a coat of ash at this point and be medium hot. This is the best temperature for grilling.

Put your ketchup right in the batter for more flavorful fried foods. There is no need to only use ketchup as a dip for cooked foods. You can also use it as a supplemental dip for chicken or vegetables. It creates a wonderful and unexpected tang in your fried foods that will have all of your friends wanting to know your secret.

If your butter has been melted, simply put your sugar-butter mixture into your freezer for a couple of minutes so that it become more firm. Afterwards, place the bowl of your finished dough into the refrigerator. Your cookies will be less likely to spread if the dough has been allowed to cool.

Store your spices in a cool, dark place. The shelf life of spices is greatly reduced if they are exposed to heat, humidity, or light. When spices are stored in an adequately dark and cool area, they tend to retain their taste and shelf life for greater periods of time. Using fresh spices makes meals even more delicious.

Never throw away your leftovers whenever you have cooked a turkey. The meat can be cut up, stored in separate bags, and kept in the freezer. The turkey stays fresh for a few weeks this way and can be used to make sandwiches or can be put into a salad.
