Potatoes that are considered mealy are good for mashing because of their dry consistency. Russet potatoes are a familiar mealy potato. An all-purpose potato that you can use in almost any dish is the Yukon Gold. Since they hold their shape well, waxy potatoes are suitable for steaming and boiling. Falling within the waxy category are standard white and red varieties.

Protect your spice and herb collection by storing your jars at room temperature in a dark place. The flavor of the spices and herbs will decrease if they are kept in areas with light, humidity, and heat. For most grounded herbs and spices keep a lot of their flavor more than a year. Spices that come in the whole form will keep their flavor for around 3-5 years. They can remain fresh longer if stored properly.
