Apples are a popular ingredient during fall and winter, but unless they are stored properly, they spoil quickly. Apples will spoil in warm, dry air, so put them in a loosely tied bag in a cool basement or refrigerator. Cull bad apples from the bag to avoid rotting more of them.

If you cooked with a sauce, save the leftover sauce in an ice cube tray that you can freeze. Just melt the sauce cubes in a sauce pan when you are ready to prepare dinner. The sauce is still good after it is frozen.
