Sift together plain flour, baking
powder, salt and nutmeg powder. Cream butter and sugar till fluffy,
add eggs one at a time. Fold in gently treacle, sift ingredients, milk
and ginger. Add ginger ale, brandy and vanilla essence. Bake in loaf
tin in a preheat 160 Celsius oven for 40 minutes. Gently brush over
with golden syrup. Sprinkle over with almond flakes.
