Chestnut Cake Recipe


140g chestnut flour

2.5 rice bowls of water

140g sugar

300g water chestnut (peel and chop finely)

beaten egg

oil for frying


Mix the chestnut flour with water and strain into a sauce pan. Add the sugar and chestnuts. Cook, while stirring until the mixture thickens slightly. (Do not overcook) Put into a greased tin or dish and steam for 1 hour. Leave the cake to cool. When absolutely cold, cut into slices. Dip it into the beaten egg and shallow fry till brown.
