Nutty Chocolate Slice Recipe


Ingredients A:

1 cup sifted plain flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder

1/4 teaspoon salt


1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

3/4 cup margarine or butter

1/4 cup cocoa powder

1/2 cup water

1 cup sweetened condensed milk

1 egg (slightly beaten)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence

1/4 icing sugar

3/4 cup chopped peanut


Grease and line a 18cm square pan. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Sift together ingredients A and stir in brown sugar. In a small saucepan, melt 1/2 cup margarine. Stir in 2 tablespoons cocoa powder and water. Bring to the boil. Remove from heat and let it cool. Then mix cold cocoa mixture into ingredients A and beat well. Stir in 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk, egg and vanilla. Pour into prepared square pan. and bake for 20 minutes or until a cake tester inserted in the centre of the cake comes out clean. Meanwhile in a small saucepan, melt remaining 1/4 cup margarine, Add remaining 2 tablespoons cocoa powder and sweetened condensed milk. Stir in icing sugar and chopped peanuts. Then spread on cool cake. Refrigerate covered at all times.
