Red Bean Soup With Fresh Lily Bulbs Recipe


300g red beans

2 fresh lily bulbs

115g fresh lotus seeds

1 quarter dried tangerine peel

200g rock sugar


  1. Rinse the red beans. Soak in boiling water for 2 hours. Strain.

  2. Soak dried tangerine peel in water until soft. Scrape off the pith.

  3. Cut the yellowish brown part off the lily bulbs. Tear off the scales. Rinse well. Soak in water.

  4. Remove the core of the lotus seeds. Rinse well.

  5. Boil red beans and dried tangerine peel in 10 cups of water. Turn to low heat and simmer for 2 hours. Add rock sugar and lotus seeds. Boil for 10 minutes. Add lily bulbs and boil for 5 more minutes. Serve.
