Coconut Milk (Santan) Fish Recipe


200g fish fillet

2 tbsp peanut oil

6 small onions (sliced)

3 cloves garlic (finely minced)

3 green chilies (sliced)

1/4 grated coconut (1cup milk)

salt to taste

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 ground ginger

1/2 tsp chili or curry powder



Mix the turmeric powder, ginger and the chili or curry powder with a little water to make a paste. Steam the fish and remove the bones. Heat the peanut oil in a frying and fry the onions, garlic and chilies till soft. Add the chili paste and fry well till cooked. Add the coconut milk and salt and cook until it boils using low heat. Put in the fish and simmer for 5 - 10 minutes, stirring all the time. Dish out and serve.
