Balinese Spicy Squids Recipe


550 g squids

1 tsp lime juice

1/2 tsp salt

1/3 tsp white pepper

3 tbsp cooking oil

1 cup water

2 basil leaves (slice thinly)

1.5 tbsp tamarind pulp with 4 tbsp water


Pounded Ingredients

5 chilies

3 cloves garlic

8 shallots

4 cm fresh turmeric

1 small size tomato

2 tsp coriander seeds

5 candlenuts

1 tsp dried shrimp paste

1 lemon grass


Remove skin of squids and pull out the tentacles. Clean the squids thoroughly. Marinate with lime juice, salt and pepper for 20 minutes. Heat oil in a pan. Stir-fry the pounded ingredients until fragrant. Add in tamarind juice and squids. Stir-fry well. Put in water and basil leaves. Boil over high heat. Then simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes. Season to taste. Serve.
