Dry Mutton Curry Recipe


1 kg mutton cut into small pieces

3 big onions

1 pod garlic

5" piece ginger

Grind onions, garlic and ginger into paste

4 tsp oil

1 tsp turmeric powder

2 cinnamon sticks

2 cloves

3 cardamoms

2 anise sticks

1 tsp cumin seeds

2 tbsp chili powder

3 fresh red chilies sliced

5 tomatoes sliced

6 shallots finely chopped

3 sprig curry leaves finely chopped

salt to taste


Wash the mutton and mix it with half of the ground paste. Heat cooking pan with oil and put in spices and fry until brown. Add in the remaining balance of paste and fry until fragrant. Add in the mutton cubes and stir for a few minutes. Add in chili powder, fresh chilies, tomatoes and salt and cover it until  mutton is cooked. Add in the finely chopped shallots and the curry leaves. Stir well.
