Spicy Fried Prawns Recipe


600g medium size prawns (shelled)

4 shallots

3 cloves garlic

4 cm piece ginger

2 cm piece turmeric

1 large onion (sliced)

1 cup thick coconut milk

1.5 tbsp curry powder (blended with 1.5 tbsp water)

1 sprig curry leaves

1 tbsp oil

salt to taste


Pound shallots, garlic, ginger and turmeric together. Heat oil in pan and fry the pounded ingredients until brown and fragrant. Add in curry leaves. Put in the blended curry powder and stir until fragrant. Add in the sliced onion and coconut milk and bring to boil. Add in the prawns and cook until done. Dish out and serve.
