Spicy Meatball Curry Recipe


800g meat (finely minced meat)

1 large onion (finely chopped)

1 clove garlic (crushed)

4 cm piece fresh ginger (finely grated)

2 fresh red or green chili (seeded and finely chopped)

3 tbsp fresh coriander or mint (chopped)

salt to taste


3 tbsp ghee

3 medium onions (finely chopped)

1 clove garlic (finely chopped)

4 cm piece fresh ginger (finely chopped)

1 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp chili powder

2 tomatoes (quartered)

salt to taste

3 tbsp chopped coriander or mint

lemon juice to taste


For Meatballs:

Mix the minced meat thoroughly with all the other ingredients. Then shape it into balls.

For Gravy:

Heat ghee in a saucepan and brown the meatballs. Set aside. Continue using the same oil to fry the onions, garlic and ginger until soft and golden. Add turmeric and chili powder and fry for another minute. Add tomatoes, salt and meatballs. Cover the pan and simmer for 30 minutes or until gravy is thick and meatballs is soft. Add in the chopped herbs and lemon juice and stir. Serve.
