Potato Croquettes Recipe


1 3/4 to 21/4 lb (800-1000g) potatoes

1 onion finely chopped

9oz (250g) lean ground beef

1 tsp salt

dash of pepper

1 tbsp oil

2 tbsp green peas (cooked)

approx 2 cups all purpose flour for dusting

2 eggs

1.5 to 2 cups breadcrumbs

oil for deep frying



Worcestershire sauce


  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil. Add chopped onion and sauté until transparent. Add ground beef and cook until done, sprinkling 1 tsp salt and a dash of pepper. Set aside to cool.

  2. Peel potatoes and cut into chunks. Boil potatoes in hot water until done. Test with bamboo skewer.

  3. In a bowl, add potatoes and 1 tsp salt. Mix and mash. Add cooked green peas.

  4. Mix cooled meat and potatoes.

  5. Makes 8 to 10 potato patties.

  6. Coat the patties with flour, beaten eggs and breadcrumbs. Deep fry in heated oil until golden brown. (340-360degrees Fahrenheit or 170-180degrees Celsius)
