Orange Jelly Cake Recipe


one Line Cake (for Line Cake refer Birthday Cake with Mixed Fruits)

Orange Cake:

160g plain flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

6 eggs

1 medium sized orange

150ml water

150g sugar


2 medium sized oranges

800 ml water

165g sugar

30g jelly powder

40g corn flour

2 teaspoons agar-agar powder

Baking Tin:

two 26cm round baking tin, greased and lined



  • Sift plain flour and baking powder together. Separate egg yolks from egg whites for later use. Extract juice from orange and stir in 150ml water.

  • Pour sugar and egg whites into mixer and beat till stiff peaks form. Add egg yolks to mix well.

  • Slowly pour in sifted plain flour and baking powder, mixing a little at a time. Stir in orange juice. Pour mixture into baking tin. Bake at 200 degrees Celsius for about 15 minutes. Remove and cool. Cut cake into half horizontally. Leave half in baking tin. At this stage, you may wrap edges of orange cake with Line cake in baking tin.


  • Extract juice from oranges and stir in 800 ml water. Take 100ml orange juice and stir in corn flour to mix well. Set aside.

  • Add sugar, jelly powder and agar-agar powder to remaining orange juice then bring to boil. Pour in orange juice add corn flour mixture, stir well and bring to boil again. Remove.

  • Pour half the orange jelly mixture onto cake. Cover with 2nd piece of cake. Pour in remaining orange jelly mixture. Refrigerate till solidified before serving.
